January 2007 – January 2008: Maverick Television (London Office)

Technician for Maverick Television’s London office, role included:

  • Offline editing for How To Look Good Naked series 3 as required
  • Supervising four edit suites running Avid Media Composer Adrenaline, as well as Avid XPress and Final Cut Pro 6 systems
  • Answering all technical queries/assistance with these suites
  • Digitizing
  • Conforming
  • Managing local storage systems
  • Performing reversions for International releases
  • Small edits for various productions/development teams

I worked across two large Channel 4 productions; New Shoots: Films by Disabled Directors and How To Look Good Naked, as well as several smaller Development and Drama projects.

October – December 2006: The Yard W1

Employed by The Yard W1 to work on Love Production’s Cirque de Celebrité for Sky One. Role included:

  • Digitizing a large amount of rushes for each weekly live TX
  • Technical support for 5 Avid suites (running Media Composer, Xpress Pro HD and Symphony)
  • Working with Avid Unity, including workspace management
  • General edit assistant work

September 2006: Freelance digitizing for October Films

Digitizing rushes onto Avid Xpress systems for Medical Mavericks documentary.

October 2005 – October 2006: MPC (The Moving Picture Company)

  • Initially in a runner position
  • Promoted to Media Services Assistant, liaising with producers, clients and technical staff
  • Second promotion to the position of Data Operator working on Linux based systems to manage and upload shots to be worked on by MPC’s animators and compositors
  • Responsible for the filming out of shots to negative using two ArriLaser machines, and the calibration of these machines

July – October 2005: Sixth Sense Film and TV

Post-production on two large reality series for Five, Children’s Hospital and Make It Big 2;

  • Logging rushes using Avid Media Log
  • Contributing editorially to character and story development
  • Digitising using Avid Xpress
  • Attended various post-production processes, from offline editing to dubs and grades
