Britain’s Oil Hunters tell the fascinating story of the exploration and drilling for oil since the first great discovery in south west Persia, today’s Iran, in 1908. It was this discovery that led to the formation of Anglo-Persian Oil, later BP.

The film tells the story of the hunt for oil in the North Sea as well as Alaska, and the current exploration in the Gulf of Mexico. One hundred years after the first great oil find BP have found a vast oil reservoir in the Gulf of Mexico, the Tiber field. This involves drilling at extraordinary depths of 35,000 feet and marks a new frontier in the hunt for oil. Britain’s Oil Hunters tells the dramatic story of a century of Britain’s oil exploration.
