Edit Assistant

6 x 60′, Flashback Television for ITV4

Former SAS hero Andy McNab unravels the incredible stories behind individual moments of extreme bravery on the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan.

Combat Engineers building a vital bridge under intense enemy fire; an 18 year old Territorial Army rookie fighting through an ambush with a bullet lodged against his spine; British and American counter terrorist bomb disposal operators defusing 200lb car bombs in 50 degrees heat. These stories are told through interviews with a handful of specially chosen soldiers. Interviewed on location in Britain and America, they give their professional and personal recollections of individual and remarkable combat encounters.

McNab, author of Bravo Two Zero, uses his expert background knowledge from his years in the SAS to give the viewer a better understanding of the weapons and tactics that played a part in the combat encounters described in the programme. Getting hands-on with kit, he explains how they work, why you use them, and when you use them.

The series features dynamic, explosive re-enactments of the combat encounters described, UK and US combat camera material, UGC clips and television news archive and stills.
